Jason D. Bennett
FOUNDING PARTNERJason is senior regulatory and governance counsel with over 20 years’ experience in professional regulation, discipline, policy and strategy. An expert in board governance and regulatory policy, Jason brings a strategic and thoughtful approach to every legal scenario. Having held senior leadership positions in policy, governance and tribunals with the Ontario College of Teachers, the Ontario College of Trades, and the Mutual Fund Dealers Association of Canada, Jason is highly skilled at providing legal, policy and governance support to regulators and coordinating major projects with Ministry staff and other stakeholders. He is also a passionate and effective litigator and regulatory prosecutor, having worked in enforcement and compliance litigation for much of his career.
Currently, Jason is General Counsel to the Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority (RHRA) and a member of the Complaints Committee of the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC). He’s the former Vice-Chair of the Compensation Fund Board of Trustees at the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council (OMVIC) and a former member of the Home Construction Regulatory Authority’s (HCRA) Consumer Advisory Council. Jason was a guest speaker at the Canadian Network of Agencies for Regulation (CNAR) Vancouver Conference (October 2023) and CNAR’s National Conference (October 2021).
NOTABLE DECISIONS
Jason recently won an application in the Superior Court of Justice involving an alleged material change in a condominium project and the operation of the 10-day rescission period in s.74(5) of the Condominium Act, 1998 reported at Trivedi v. 2607305 Ontario Inc. (o/a Urbane Communities), 2025 ONSC 72.

EDUCATION
Jason earned his B.A. (Hons.) from Queen’s University in 1995 and his LL.B. in 2001. He was called to the Ontario bar in 2002. Prior to attending law school, he spent two years in Japan, teaching at the elementary level and serving as sports editor for The Japan Times.
